The Duffle coat, known for it’s toggles rather than buttons, dates it’s beginnings back to the British Royal Navy who issued it in WWI. Later, Field Marshal Montgomery wore one to stand out among the troops. This made the Duffle very popular among the Brits. After the war tons of military surplus coats had most of Britain wearing these, but it’s popularity dropped as the years went by. But in the 50’s and 60’s it became popular again after it was redesigned by Gloverall. Modern Duffle coats of today are pretty much an exact replica of those redesigned coats.
The Duffle Coat, or the Monty, is still pretty popular due to it’s stylishness, and much more comfortable. And since it is end of season you can get a very nice one for about half the price.
The Lauren by Ralph Lauren is one of the highest reviewed Duffle coats I’ve seen. It’s normal price is around $500, but at Sierra Trading Post it’s on sale for only $249. And it guaranteed to keep you warm on these remaining winter days.

The NOVO Unknown watch with a solid steel square face that comes in black or white. And as you can see, it looks nothing like an ordinary watch. It’s missing the traditional hour and minute hands, but in their place is a highly creative way to tell the time, which I can’t describe any better than the embedded video I included below. I get compliments and questions about the watch every time I wear it. Most guys have remarked that they liked it and thought that it was cool and stylish. It’s definitely a “manly” watch with it’s stainless steel face, and techie look. And right now it looks as if it is on sale over at NOVO.
The NOVO watch is a great conversation starter, and you’re sure to get some attention every time you wear it.

I like to hear from Kickstarter entrepreneurs who have interesting products they are trying to fund(hint, hint), and give them some press. So it was nice to hear from Girish Karnani who is raising funds for 1 Voice. He claims it is the coolest beanie ever. And as far as beanies go, it is pretty cool, because it not only keeps your head warm, it has built in bluetooth headphones. All you need to do is sync your beanie to your phone/mp3 player, hit play, and enjoy your favorite music. So instead of worrying about your earbuds falling out, you can concentrate on exercising, like skiing and running, texting, or whatever you do when you’re listening to music. It’s not my business. Unless you have earbuds in while you’re driving, that’s plain dangerous.
The beanie is pretty stylish, and it’s nice and warm, it’s made of a tight knit to keep you toasty. And it has a built-in battery that allows for 6-8 hours of continuous playback, which can be recharged via USB included with the beanie.
This is a cool beanie too if you’re looking for something more immediate:

I’ve been hearing a lot about cold water shaving for some reason lately. So I gave it a go this morning. And I think I’m going to stick with it.
Now the way I shave is like this: I shower first, then I shave. This really brings out the beard around my current Goatee. So I already started with warm water. This morning I splashed cold water on my face, put on the shaving lotion and started shaving. I found quickly that cold water really makes the whiskers stand up straight. So I felt a little more pulling, but not too bad. The results: Invigorating shave, smooth and less irritable.
I looked for arguments for cold water shaving, and Art of Manliness has some of the best I have seen. They go ahead and give examples of several self-care books from the 19th and early 20th century. The best advice being from Shaving Made Easy:
A hair, as is well known, is a tube composed of a hard fibrous substance, growing from a bulb or root, which secretes an oily matter.
This oil works its way up through the hair, and by permeating all parts, renders the hair soft and pliable. Now in this natural oily condition, it is very difficult to cut the hair with a razor, and it becomes even more difficult if the beard be made still softer by the application of hot water. Many do this, and it is no wonder they find shaving difficult. When this is done, the hairs become soft and limp, and the razor will either slip over them entirely, or else cut partly into them, bend them back and shave them lengthwise, all the while pulling and straining them at the roots, and making the process of shaving most painful.
So there you go. I would advise to at least trying it out, it can’t hurt, unless you are a real pussy. You might like it.
I found this cool iPhone case over on Etsy. It’s not unique that in that it looks like wood, it’s actually plastic. It’s the geometric wood shapes that are on the case that makes it an eye catcher and one of a kind.
According to the creator, the case is customized, so you can choose color case which you would like. It’s made using a heat compress technique takes one or two days for production.
Not a bad price at $16.00. But it from IdeaCase on Etsy.com.
With one push of the gas pedal, the The 2013 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG uses up the carbon credits of many small countries. However the Mercedes Benz G Series has always been a favorite of mine. I know it’s boxy and grossly expensive. But there’s something cool and manly about it. Maybe it’s the G63’s V8 that cranks out 536 horsepower and 560 lb-ft. of torque. That will take you from 0 – 60 mph in 5.3 seconds. Considering that the G63 AMG weighs around 6 tons, that’s pretty impressive. So if you anyone at Mercedes Benz wants to send me one for say a one year test drive, I’ll be more than happy to accept….sound of crickets.
2013 Mercedes-Benz G63 AMG base price is $135,700
